The Yacht
Hull number 12 of this popular performance cruiser series has been lavished with TLC by her original owner. Lightly sailed in freshwater here on Lake Michigan, she was recently up-engineered and boasts pristine cosmetics. Torresen Marine in Muskegon replaced all below-waterline balsa core with vacuum-bagged Corecell high-density foam. The new laminate used epoxy and was done with keel off and the boat upside down. Single Malt comes with a Torreson-backed, transferrable 10-year hull warranty. She also received a new composite rudder at the same time. As a dual-purpose yacht, the Aerodyne 38 nails it. Cockpit size and interior space are carefully balanced. Speed abounds, yet there's plenty of nicely appointed volume below. The hull form has good reserve stability and low wetted surface, making it fast across the entire wind range. She's surprisingly stiff, adding both to sailing efficiency and comfort. Not built to any one rule, this design drew lessons from the BOC/Vendee Globe Open Class; and from the new generation of fast buoy racers. Complete survey available to earnest buyers. Great buy for the owner who wants to go fast and far in comfort and style. Lying South Haven, Mich. Price: $170,000.
