The Yacht

This turn-key, professionally maintained ULDB 70 Transpac winner has been completely renewed to contend for Transpac honors again in 2013. Aggressively priced for quick sale, she's been brought to better-than-new condition, sparing no expense. It all started in 2001 with a complete two-year-long refit by New England Boatworks and Westease Yacht Service. At that time she got a new cockpit, transom, winches, hardware, engine, paint and more.

Phase two several years later culminated with a new Hall carbon rig and boom, new wiring, plumbing and a new keel fabricated by Industrias Duro. It's a bronze fin with a choice of two lead torpedoes - one for raw speed and the other built to the IRC rule. Advance Composites Concepts also fabricated a new emergency carbon rudder. All upgrades were developed and executed in consultation with Nelson/Marek Yacht Design. IMS, ORR and IRC certificates were maintained in parallel to the upgrade program.

Denali has won under every rating rule. But what really sets her apart from other sleds are construction quality and comfort. Her tasteful, user-friendly interior includes a beautiful, spacious owner's cabin. See the belowdecks finish in our photo gallery.

denali-youtube-2012-macThe original engineering of this 1988 Dencho-built maxi ocean racer was advanced even by today's standards. Hull and deck both used PVC foam cores. Unidirectional carbon and S-glass skins were laid up with AME 4000 modified epoxy resin. The composite frames also are PVC-cored with vacuum-bagged epoxy/S-glass skins. Any plywood bulkheads are E-glass-encased for increased strength and water resistance. Of course the sail inventory is comprehensive. Recent born-on dates predominate. 

Denali certainly has thrived in the cold, rugged waters of the Great Lakes. But now she longs to go home to southern California to once gain show the upstart whippersnappers who's boss. Scheme now to ship her west and enter her for Hawaii next spring. And they hoped they were done with her in 2007 after she stole line honors in class AND corrected out first in class. Lying Milwaukee, Wisconsin at a low asking price of $310,000.
